Definitions & Guidelines
To assist you with this application the judges have provided some guidelines.
When providing your answers, the “For Example” / guidelines we have suggested for each question are not intended to be exhaustive. They are designed as examples and prompts to help you understand the judges’ requirements. It is important that where you state that you have evidence in support of the specific question you are answering, you need to provide that evidence – usually, a generic brochure or company overview is not sufficient.
Environmental
Nominations are open to any manufacturing company that can demonstrate environmentally responsible manufacturing practices that have recognised and reduced their overall impact on the environment.
The judges will be looking for evidence to confirm the company’s knowledge of its environmental impact, controls that have been implemented to reduce their impact, involvement and commitment of all levels within the business towards environmental awareness and control, recognition of their environmental commitment and performance and evidence of systematic commitment to systems supporting ongoing environmental performance and improvement.
Note – Applicants may find that their application into the Environmental Excellence category may also be a ‘fit’ for another category, such as innovation, manufacturing process, etc. By adapting the information to fit the criteria of other categories you give yourself the opportunity for your product, process etc to be profiled in more than one sector.

Back to TopPrevious Year's Winner

2017 Winner – Norris Industries
The applicant has identified a range of environmental aspects associated with their manufacturing operation over which they have influence.
It is commendable that they have sought assistance through membership of and participation in industry programs such as the NSW sustainability advantage program.
Continuous improvement in efforts to reduce their manufacturing environmental footprint is evident, together with flow on of benefits to their customers.
A focus on both upstream (suppliers) and downstream (product use) impacts, in addition to the in-house manufacturing process indicates a holistic approach.
